Fresh Seasons Marketplace opens in downtown Victoria, MN
April 5, 2009
I live in Victoria, MN, a small town of about six thousand people 35 minutes southwest of Minneapolis. This weekend was the grand opening of Fresh Seasons Marketplace, a mid-sized grocery store, in our downtown. I was a skeptic, not looking forward to what this would do to traffic or parking in our one stoplight downtown, and sad that our local butcher, Mackenthum’s, closed up shop. I was also pessimistic about what the quality of the store would be.
Happily, I was at least wrong about the store itself (parking and traffic jury is still out.) It seemed like all of Victoria was in the store on Saturday, and everyone was in a great mood. The employees were all very cheerful and helpful, and the store itself was fantastic. They have a ready-made foods area that looks great, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, and what looks to be a great seafood counter. And, as someone who works from home most of time, I was thrilled to see they have sushi at a reasonable price. I will definitely be stopping there to pick up my lunch often.
I’ll post more with pictures later in the week.
